Hi! I’m Shelbey England, an Arizona native with a lifelong love of food, adventure, and bringing people together—usually over a delicious meal! I grew up near Cave Creek, AZ, cooking alongside my mom in her cowboy-style Dutch oven catering business (shout out Cowgirls Forever, contact her for all your cast iron cooking needs!). Over the years, my love for cooking evolved into starting my own culinary journey with Bricoleur, where I provide meal planning and preparation, small event catering, and custom baked goods like cakes, cookies, and breads.
My approach to food is best summed up by my value statement: “Globally inspired for every season.” To me, "season" means more than just using the freshest ingredients at the right time of year—it also represents the different seasons of life. Our needs shift, and food will always be there to nourish and celebrate. Whether it’s a busy weeknight, a milestone event, or simply a craving for something special, I love creating dishes that fit the moment and make it memorable. I believe food should be both delicious and accessible, which is why I specialize in accommodating dietary restrictions/preferences to make sure everyone gets to enjoy something amazing!
So, why “Bricoleur”? Deriving from the French “bricolage”, meaning “creation from a diverse range of available things”, a bricoleur is someone who creates new things using found materials. This concept resonates with me deeply, as I love crafting new and exciting dishes by drawing inspiration from the diverse cultures and cuisines I’m so grateful to have access to. The name also reflects my creative spirit beyond the kitchen, encompassing other creative passions-I find inspiration in all things creative and hands-on. I’m drawn to art, dance, architecture, literature, and history—always eager to explore how culture and storytelling shape the world around us. I also love the tactile creativity of learning to sew, interior design, and gardening, finding beauty in both craftsmanship and nature. Sustainability and community connection are important to me, whether that’s through supporting local farms, reducing waste, or giving back in meaningful ways. No matter the medium, I’m always excited to learn, create, and discover something new.
At the end of the day, food is more than just fuel—it’s connection. Whether you need help with weekly meals, a special event, or just an excuse to enjoy something delicious, I’d love to cook for you!
